Q) I have a Building Plot. What should I do now?
A) At Sipit we offer a full design and build service. We can take enquiries forward from your projects very early stages.
Q) Are SIPS suitable for my building project?
A) SIPS panels can be utilised in virtually every small and medium sized building. We are able to offer our services to self-builders, small developers and Housing Associations.
Q) Can I use my existing Architect?
A) Yes. We can also supply our own recommended architect if you don't have one yourself, allowing you to take full advantage of the construction and space enhancing benefits of SIPS.
Q) Is achieving building control approval a problem?
A) No. SIPs are a fully accepted building technology. We are happy to liaise with Planning and Building Control to ensure a smooth build.
Q) What are the benefits of SIPS?
A) Speed of construction, better use of internal space, heat retention qualities and environmentally friendly manufacture are some of the many benefits.
Q) How much will it cost?
A) Depending on design cost will vary greatly, however in comparison with other building methods when taking all specification differences into account overall costs are very competitive. We are happy to supply an estimate of cost for client's individual building projects.
Q) What foundations can be used?
A) Any foundation can be used, however accuracy of levels is more critical due to the precision engineering of the panels.
Q) How long will it take to build?
A) A typical build time for a medium sized two storey house would be ten days on site for the SIPS frame to be fully erected and covered in a breathable waterproof membrane ready for follow on trades.
Q) Can you supply other trade services?
A) In most cases we can supply details of skilled tradesmen known to us through our years of experience in the building trade.
Q) What finishes can be used?
A) SIPS is fully compatible with all traditional and modern finishing techniques.
Q) What Heating System should I install?
A) The excellent heat retentive qualities of SIPS allows for the installation of a smaller heating system than would normally be required. SIPS also allow alternative heating methods to be a viable option.
Q) What guarantees are available?
A) As an accepted building product there are no special implications to utilising SIPS. SIPS houses meet all Insurance and Guarantee Company requirements.
Q) Can I see SIPS in use?
A) We are keen to encourage prospective clients to visit our factory in Milngavie, Glasgow. A pre-arranged visit will allow you to view our fabrication process, see a full-sized mock-up of a SIPS house and answer any further questions you may have. We may also be able to arrange a visit to one of our construction sites.
